This image is 40" tall. The inspiration is the blessing stance that is used by priests and shamans through out the world. The hands are held at shoulder height with palms facing outward. It is also a summons for guidance, clarity and grace before the session/healing begins.
To me, the blessing is creation ...all of it. In Buddhist philosophy, discomfort, pain and irritation are often needed for the personality/soul/spirit to grow. An unpleasant experience serves to teach us and …is thus good. This image encourages the viewer to bless the field in front of her/him to find a positive connection to the river of life. The icon is intended to solicit gratitude for experiencing the phenomenal privilege of having a body.
